Artificial Evil ← RETURN TO ARTIFICIAL EVIL
ARTIFICIAL EVIL / MANIFESTOPUBLIC DECLARATION

CORPORATE MUSIC IS THE ENEMY.
ARTIFICIAL EVIL IS OUR RESPONSE.

For decades, the music business has been very good at convincing artists that surrender is opportunity.

Give us the master.
Give us the publishing.
Give us the distribution.
Give us the audience.
Give us the data.
Give us the rights.
Give us the identity.

In return, maybe we’ll let you play.

Artificial Evil exists because that arrangement sucks.

We believe artists should own the work, control how it is presented, decide where it lives, and choose how people experience it.

That sounds obvious.
Apparently it isn’t.

THE MACHINE WAS ALREADY HERE

Artificial Evil uses artificial intelligence.
We are not ashamed of that.
We are also not particularly impressed by it.

AI is a tool. Sometimes an astonishing one. Sometimes a profoundly stupid one. It can help build music, images, stories, characters, worlds, and things that would have been impossible or prohibitively expensive for independent artists to make a few years ago.

It can also produce mountains of soulless garbage at industrial speed.

The existence of the tool does not excuse the absence of taste.

THE TOOL IS NOT THE ART.

The idea matters.
The choices matter.
The point of view matters.
The effort matters.
What you do with the thing matters.

Artificial Evil is not interested in replacing creativity.
We are interested in removing excuses.

WE ARE NOT ASKING PERMISSION

The old music industry was built around gates.

You needed the label.
You needed the distributor.
You needed manufacturing.
You needed radio.
You needed shelf space.
You needed somebody in an office to decide you were allowed through.

Most of those gates are gone.
The instinct to control them is not.

Today the gates have different names.

Platforms.
Algorithms.
Feeds.
Recommendation systems.
Streaming economics.
Terms of service.

Artists gained access to the entire world and somehow still ended up renting space inside somebody else’s machine.

That is not freedom.
It is better distribution.
There is a difference.

OWN THE RECORD. OWN THE WORLD AROUND IT.

A record is more than an audio file.

It can have a story.
A visual language.
Characters.
Lyrics.
Artwork.
Narrative.
Context.
Mystery.
A beginning.
An ending.
A reason to sit down and experience the whole damn thing instead of hearing twelve seconds before an algorithm offers something else.

That world should belong to the artist too.

Not just the WAV file.
Not just the master.
The experience.

LPX

One of the tools we discovered for doing that is Longplay Experience — LPX.

LPX is not another platform to move into. It’s an open format artists can take with them. That’s why we use it.

LPX is an open, artist-owned publishing format for records. It gives artists a way to build an experience around an album and put that experience somewhere they control.

It can be narrative.
Visual.
Illustrated.
Lyric-driven.
Interactive.
Strange.
Minimal.
Huge.

Whatever the record wants to become.

LPX is not a platform asking artists to move in.
It is a format artists can take with them.

Artificial Evil uses it because it fits what we believe:

The artist should own the record.
The artist should own the experience.
The artist should decide where it lives.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT PURITY

We are not anti-technology.
We are not anti-musician.
We are not anti-label.
We are not interested in arguing about which tool makes somebody a “real artist.”

We are anti-bullshit.

We are against pretending one-click output is creativity.
We are against pretending corporate approval is legitimacy.
We are against pretending a streaming tile is the natural final form of a record.
And we are deeply suspicious of anyone who wants to own the relationship between an artist and the people who care about their work.

ARTIFICIAL EVIL

The name is a joke.
Mostly.

Artificial Evil looks like an evil corporation because the music business already spent decades teaching us the visual language.

Warnings.
Compliance.
Branding.
Certification.
Legal departments.
Approved messaging.
Market positioning.

We just removed the part where they own your soul.

REAL RECORDS. FAKE INSTRUMENTS.
100% ARTIFICIALLY GENERATED.
0% AUTOMATICALLY INTERESTING.
PROMPT RESPONSIBLY.

TAKE CONTROL.

Make the record.
Build the world.
Use guitars.
Use synthesizers.
Use tape.
Use code.
Use AI.
Use whatever helps you say what you came here to say.

But keep the master.
Keep the idea.
Keep the audience.
Keep the experience.

Artificial Evil is not a franchise.
You don’t have to copy the look, the attitude, the noise, or the jokes.

Use the idea.

Build your own label.
Build your own world.
Take control.

CORPORATE MUSIC IS THE ENEMY.
ARTIFICIAL EVIL IS OUR RESPONSE.
